smile brilliantOh yes you read that right I am giving away a SmileBriliiant Professional Teeth Whitening system to one of my very own awesome readers! But as always, let me tell you a little more about it and then enter via the rafflecopter at the end of the post!

I have a love/hate relationships with teeth whitening to be honest with you. Back in 1998 I had to have some veneers put on my front teeth and spent 2-weeks and over $200 buying the whitening system from the dentist. There was really no other option for me back int he late 90’s and it was expensive! It did work OK but I knew at $200 plus per whitening kit, form the dentist, that would probably be the last one I did. Then come an awesome company called SmileBrilliant for for a fraction of what I spent in 1998, I could get whiter teeth from home…sweet! Take that dentist!

Here are some before and after photos of some results. Pretty amazing!

So one of the biggest questions out there is that if teeth whitening does not alter your natural tooth color then how does it work? it comes down to Enamel and Dentin. Here is a little about those.

OK so here is how your tooth is made of. There are two layers outside the pulp of the tooth itself which are the inner dentin layer and an outer enamel layer. When eating, drinking, or smoking occurs you cover our teeth with a foreign third layer, called pellicle film. This pellicle film can be felt if you have not brushed your teeth in a few days. Yuck…don’t wait that long…lol.

Going to the Dentist for annual teeth cleanings and brushing daily, at home, can eliminate most of this film but there is still more that seeps in through the porus tooth and that causes our teeth to color over time. When you use a tooth whitener this sends their bleaching chemical into the enamel’s pores and causes the stains to break down.

Now like any other system there are times when you don’t want to be bleaching your teeth and a few of those are when you are pregnant, nursing, have open cavities, or under the age of 18. You should always check with your dentist first to make sure there are not other reasons you should not whiten your teeth.

So now with all that said let’s move onto the giveaway! Giveaway is open to all that live here: US, UK, AU, & CA so if you do not live in one of these countries…sorry:(
