Smoking around kids…really?!!

I hope you will share!

I know people smoke and that is their right however, there has to be a point where common sense has to be taken into account.

I just cringe, and it is everything I can do not to go “off” on people when I see them smoking at my kids play grounds and while they are pushing their kids stroller. There are other places too but these are the last couple I have seen lately and it just makes me want to punch them out!

Smoking is a choice…right? So why are these certain people taking that choice away from their kids, or my kid, by smoking where these kids are? Really? Does this make any sense?

Here is my last escapade at my pediatricians office that happened to me a few weeks ago and I am finally getting around to posting it.I had taken my kids to an ill appointment to the pediatrician and needed a paper filled out by the doctor. During my appointment I gave the paper to her and she said it would take her about 15 minutes to fill it out.

Instead of waiting in the room I decided to take the kids out to the car with me, because they were not happy with being in the office. I asked the front desk to text me or call me when the paper was filled out so I could just run in real quick and pick up the paper. I had parked my car right in front of the front door of the office so when I ran in I could still see 100% of my car. It literally takes me 2 seconds to walk to the front counter from the car.

I waited 10 minutes and got a call so I proceeded to get out of the car. As I was getting out another couple with their child were coming out of the doctors office with their very small baby and a child that could not have been more then 4 or 5.

I had locked my car doors and had the air conditioning on for my sleeping kids but I did crack the windows just in case. I don’t  know why, it just made me feel better. I should have left the windows closed.

I watched my kids while I walked in and i watched the couple light up  cigarettes WHILE they put their kids in the car and car seats. the cigarettes are dangling out of their mouths and smoke is being blown right in their faces. I could see the older girl coughing, HELLO!!!

They proceeded to stand outside their card and lean against MINE, not theirs and kept on smoking. This all happened in about 3 minutes. I was waiting for the nurse to grab the paper from the doctor. I was glaring at them, and they could see them.

After about 5 minutes inside I walked out and was ready to let the couple have it. They put out their cigarettes and quickly got in the car, it was like they knew I was going to ream them. I was so mad. How dare you blow smoke in my kids face, lean on my car to do it, and then run off like a whimpy baby. Really? I could not believe it!

I was so hot and pissed, I called my husband and he said “chase them down!” It was tempting but I let it go. Lesson learned I tell you.

Just one more reason as to why I hate cigarette smoke.

I hope you have a wonderful smoke free day!

Some people don’t need kids. Even a little bit of second hand smoke is harmful. And that leaning on my car stuff does not fly. Ppl now days. SMH

How about when you have family members that smoke around the children when they know that said child has asthma. Or when they smoke around you knowing that the smoke alone can trigger a reaction. Their excuse is, ‘she’s not in this room’ or ‘I’m smoking under the vent (stove vent).

Oh that burns me too. I know someone who does that and he sons asthma never flares up when he is not at home. Can we say Child services? It has tempted me before.

  3. Speaking of getting irked by cigarette smoke. How about these people that work in a non smoking place. When they want to smoke, they all huddle right outside the front door of their work place to smoke. It make me choke just to walk by them.
