Do you need a paid word press theme?

I hope you will share!

There are a ton of Free and Paid word press themes out there on the Internet. There are free themes you can search right from your word press dash board as well as other sources on the Internet.

I read a lot and talked to some at a blog conference and was told I would need a paid theme. Well…I have not had to have a paid them yet and I really don’t see a “need.”

I read forums that said you had to have a paid theme in order to had AdSense or html on you page. Not true.

There is a widget section on your theme dashboard and it comes with text widgets. You can move over as many text widgets into your sidebar as you like. Then all you have to do is copy and paste your AdSense, codes, GFC codes, or any html codes and then save. BAM they show up! Easy!

I found so many themes I have yet to see them all and probably never will. I have two website dedicated to health and fitness and I found two themes that fit in nicely with this. They are at FitAfterBabies.com and Tawnasplan.com if you want to check them out. Now they will always be a work in progress and I will be constantly be changing them as I learn more but honesty I believe they look better then my blogger platform every did so I am happy with them.

Now paid themes may have more options I am not aware of but if you are just looking to get started and do the basics a free theme is great!

Come back for more merging tips!

Have a great day!

Great post. I too have a free theme and was wondering about upgrading or what direction in general to take. Glad to know I’m not the only one using the free one 🙂 Saying hi from BloggyMoms!

  2. Enjoyed your post! This is something I ponder too. Sometimes it seems that the ‘paid’ themes and blog designs can elevate a blog to that much higher level of “professionalism” but if the content ain’t there…who cares how pretty it is. Dilemma, dilemma. I also think about monetizing…to do or not to do…that is the question.
