Making everything a calorie burner

I hope you will share!

Being a SAHM is a lot more work then I ever thought it would be.

Before I had kids I did not realize how much Mom’s did during the day. I do find it a challenge to get my workout in as I am always busy running errands, doing dishes, laundry, and just being at my children’s beck-n-call.

One thing I have learned is that almost everything can be made into a workout and this has helped me lose some of my weight.I thought I would share with you some of the things I do to burn extra calories during the day.

1. I have our washer and dryer down stairs. If you are a Mom you know how much laundry you can do so this is a big calorie burner:)

Instead of taking as much as I can in one load up the stairs I break it up. I run up and down the stairs, when I do not have too much in my hands. I also feel the basket up about halfway and take more then one load up the stairs. I also take the hanging clothes separate as I hang them right out of the dryer.

2.  I turn the stereo on and dance around while cleaning. I would use an ipod but I won’t hear the kids if I do that.

3. I don’t use a mop. When I want to clean the floor I use my hands and knees and do it the old fashioned way. I also use my feet. This burns my thigh muscles, big time.

4. On days I have less to do I may jog in front of the TV during one of my kids shows.

These are just some of the things I can think of right now to share with you. I find that it is rather easy to come up with new ways to burn some extra energy while doing all the “Mom” stuff.

My good friend works in an office and sits in a cubicle most of the time. She told me that when she uses the rest room she makes it into a calorie burner as well. Her office is on the second floor. She will walk across the office and use the furthest stair well and walk downstairs to the rest room. Then when she comes out she walks across the bottom floor to the opposite stair well and comes back up to her office.

Just doing that little extra work to use the restroom during the day can make a difference over time:)

My life is my workout. I want to find time and energy to run as well, but by the end of the day I’m pooped!

I hear you. It is hard. I am potty training my two year old and that in itself is a workout and I am exhausted by the end of the day too!
