Visualizing today!

I am not getting frustrated that we only have $7 in our bank account for a week at 2 days.  I am not grinding my teeth and losing sleep over it.  I am telling the universe today that we are going to receive enough money to make it through this week.

I am going to visualize a sweet check in the mail that I was not expecting.  I am visualizing my excitement when I check the mail and BAM check!  For my Canadian followers, cheque!

I am staying happy and excited and not going to let this lack of funds rule my life!

OK universe I am doing my job now you do yours!

Sushi was a big hit!

I took my homemade sushi to my new job Saturday morning and everyone thought I was the domestic queen “that must have taken  you forever!”  “You did not make that?”  Seriously, it was awesome.  It is so easy and people think you are the gourmet queen!

The only thing I did different was leave the seaweed paper in the whole sheet and roll big rolls and then cut them into small pieces and lay them beautifully on a serving tray.  In the middle of the tray I poured some sushi soy sauce and I was done.

the rice took 50 minutes to cook but everything else took me all of 20 minutes to prepare so it was not bad at all.

Wish I would have taken a picture, but I was rushing and did not think about it!

Crosswalks

OK so I have been walking everywhere since we moved to our new rental as everything is within walking distance.  I have had a lot of trouble with crosswalks lately.

I am a Mom who walks with 2 kids in a double stroller and NO ONE stops for me at the crosswalk EVER!  Seriously!  I have to cross the road, at this same crosswalk, daily, and every day I literally have to walk out and stop the traffic myself.

The first day I waited 15 minutes and people were running through the crosswalk and some were speeding.  There were families in vans not stopping, hello people, would you want someone to stop for you?

This just amazes me.  I can’t believe how much in a hurry everyone is now that they cannot even stop for someone to walk a crosswalk, especially one pushing to young kids in a stroller.

I literally have to wait for enough clear traffic just to push out a bit so the cars have time to stop for me.  It is ridiculous!

Please stop for people at crosswalks!  I will stop for you too!

Homemade Sushi, yum!

I love to make sushi as it is my favorite food.  I could eat it everyday!  This is the ONLY time my family gets white rice.  Anything in moderation is OK, so I don’t feel bad.

The rice is sushi rice you can buy at any grocery store that has an Asian isle.  I have tried the  brown sushi rice but have had a little trouble getting it sticky enough.

The rice I make in a rice cooker or vegetable steamer.  It works so much better than the stove top.

Mix a little rice vinegar and about 1TB of sugar in the rice.  Alter it as you see fit for taste.

Mix when rice is hot and serve immediately as cold sushi rice is not good and spreadable.  If you are dong rolls rather than my buffet style you still need to use the rice before it gets cold.

My cousin from Japan taught me how to do rolls this way, thanks Kima!  This is my favorite way to eat sushi at home and my 4 year old loves it!

Cut whatever vegetables you can think of in strips.  You will also notice I have egg salad (made with only 1TB of light may, little mustard and salt and pepper to taste.

I forgot to cut the imitation crab when I took the picture so that is the only thing missing from the pic.  I also attached pics on how to roll it.

The seaweed is bought in larger sheets and I just cut each piece into 4 equal squares.  you have to cut about 1/4-1/2 inch off of it first to make it square.

I like this way because you can make a different tasting roll each time and the kids have fun making them.

You can also flip the seaweed over and roll it the opposite way so the rice is on the outside after the roll.

Hope you like it!  If you try it let me know what you think!

Having two houses to take care of is a lot of work!

Moving and taking care of two houses plus two kids and a husband = ouch my body hurts!  We have been taking a real long time to move because we are moving from a house that is 2200 square feet to one that is 1100 square feet.  Where to put it all?  That is our questions.  I have been saying that it is like fitting a watermelon inside a lemon.

Throwing lots of stuff away, donating, selling, you name it to get rid of it.  We still have a lot of stuff we need to keep and it is hard but we are managing.

I am so sore and because we want the cash incentive from the bank the other house needs to be clean as well so keeping up with my new house, moving in and keeping somewhat clean, I have to do the same to the old.

Positive thing:  I am burning tons of calories!

Will be done this weekend finally!

Almost forgot my goal yesterday but caught myself

I was moving lots of heavy stuff from the basement of our old house up to the main floor and a few times fell on the stairs, dropped tings etc.  I almost exploded and threw a fit when I remembered, “no Tawna, this is not part of the secret, don’t revert back now.”  Seriously that was hard but I am finally in a place where I am starting to catch myself before I need anger management.

I must have tripped pretty well about 4-5 times and once I said to myself I would not let it get to me I did nt trip again.  I am not making this up, I am so serious.  It was amazing how my outlook and something so easy as walking up the stairs with heavy things changed to easier all because of my outlook.

Made the rest of the night fly by and the basement is clean!  Whihoo!

The law of attraction is a magnet

Something both the movie and Joe Vitale say is that the law of attraction is like a magnet.  f you give off positive energy then you will attract positive energy and same for the negative energy.

I used to be all about negative energy and you know, now that I think about it I had a pretty depressing life.  I was mad all the time, hated the world, and thought everyone was out to get me.  The biggest reason was the people I had in my life were like this.  It did not matter how hard I tried to be happy I just couldn’t.  Those types of people are gone in my life, better yet, I am not letting them in.  Life is too short to let others bring you down.  If you have people like this in your life sit back and ask yourself, “is it worth all the trouble?  I am serious.  It takes a lot of work to be friends with negative people.  It takes a lot of energy to feel down all the time.  Since I have released these types of people out of my life I have been  happier and have a better perspective.

I feel good and know I am heading in the right direction.

Our lives are short enough and we should not feel obligated to humor those who don’t want the positive tings out of life.  I won’t let them rule my life anymore!

My 1 year old refuses to hold his own bottle

I had my daughter totally off the bottle at 14 months and she was holding her own bottle by 6 months old. My son is 1 and a week and still refuses to hold his bottle. He will sit and scream until I give it to him. Anyone else have this issue?

I do not want him on the bottle all day as I can’t barely get him to drink out of a sippie cup and I fear her will be on the bottle for a long time. For dental reasons I really want him off all bottles but his last bottle before bed and don’t want him taking that for much longer either.

Help! What should I do? It may not seem huge now at age 1 but weaning is a long process.

Stamina is changing big time!

I swear that if all you do is run your stairs 10 times a day with extra weights on the arms and legs (even without) you will notice a big change in your stamina which in turn means a change in your health.

I have noticed a big change in the way I feel from moving. My husband did most of the moving from one house to the other but I am the unpacking girl and my main job is running up and down the stairs unpacking boxes and running the boxes outside to the curb.

I do not want to sit down and do nothing anymore, besides sitting here and writing a 5 minute post. Seriously!

I am finding that I want to be outside with the kids more, playing with the kids, going on walks, and finding new healthy recipes to cook for dinner. One of those, orange flank steak I will post another time.

One of the things I know for sure is that the more and more we do not exert energy the more we don’t feel like exerting energy. I have done this and I am not doing it again.

Once we start to become healthy and get used to an active lifestyle, the TV shows and sitting do not seem as important anymore. It puts a lot of things into perspective.

The hardest part is getting over the tired feeling and not wanting feeling and making yourself do it no matter what time it is. Make any chore during the day and exercise. Add weight to your legs and arms and use them to scrub the fool instead of a mop. Turn the music on and dance while you dust, again I love to add weights here. You get the point?

I hope to eventually have people add comments who have started this to see if they have the same conclusion.

Have a great day!
