Microwave saftey, who’d thought?!

Did anyone else know that microwaves have child safety built in? I did not know and especially did not expect this from our 15 year old microwave.
My 17 month old son has just become tall enough to hit the buttons on the little island we have it sitting on. There is just no other place to put it.
I find him, daily, hitting the buttons because he like to hear the “beep” sound. I have always worried, not that he will start it, but that he will figure out how to open it when he is a few more inches, and who knows what he will put in there.
The other day my husband said “why does is say CHILD on the microwave?” I did not even understand what he meant by that at all. I said “what, do you have your glasses on?” He told me to go look at the microwave and sure enough, where the numbers usually are it said “Child.” Look….
Wow! I had no idea but I guess when so many buttons get hit at one certain time the microwave actually locks and displays the child name, how cool!
We tried hitting clear and pressing pretty much every button and the ONLY way we got it to clear was to unplug it and plug it back in.
I guess Panasonic is getting s free plug on my blog today because I love this feature!
Does anyone else have this on their microwave? Please share!
Sometimes the little things in life make me so happy!

P90X Day 7

I absolutely did not have time on day 6 to do the Kenpo due to many obligations. Saturday’s are busy days for us and we literally did not stop from 6:30am til 11:30 pm. I was dead. Instead of getting frustrated and stopping (because I did not complete the Kenpo) I merely compromised and used day 6 as my rest day and then got up Sunday morning, ate breakfast, put the baby down for his nap, and completed my day 6 Kenpo on my day 7.The biggest point, I did NOT quit! This work out is my favorite. I LOVE this work out big time. It was fun and I seat like a big dog but did not get frustrated throughout and it seemed go by a lot faster then other P90X work outs. Kempo is cool.

I did do measurements today and have had a small loss. A loss is a loss and I will take it regardless of how small. I am not posting a picture because I know it is not significant enough to see so here are the measurements, all in inches.

Day ONE measurements 1-31-11

Bust: 41 inches
Under bust: 36 inches
Waist: 41 inches
C-section scar: 42 inches
Hips: 44 3/4 inches
Thighs (1): 24 3/4 inches
Arm: 12 inches

Day 7 2-6-11
Bust: 41
Under bust:  36 1/4 up 1/ 4 (this could just be not measuring he exact same the first time too) hard to tell, it’s hard to see the tape some times) lol
Waist:  41
C-section: 42
Hips: 44 1/2-lost 1/4 inch
Thigh: 24 1/2-lost 1.4 inch
Arm:  12 1/2-up 1/2 inch (measured of all the this 3 times) Probably because of all the weight training in P90X) I am confident this will drop soon!

So I am down in the hips and thighs and up in the arm. I will take it. The biggest success is that I have had so much energy and I feel great. It is nice to have energy to play with the kids and clean the house and do a work out all in the same day. So far loving this work out for the most part (except for the Yoga, as you know:)

P90X Day 5 Legs & Back and AB-Ripper

I write these posts on the actual day I work out but due to other postings they may not be posted until a day or few days later.Today I did the legs and back video which was 64 minutes but did NOT do that Ab ripper as suggested. I could have done it, I had the stamina but my InterStim implant is hurting ever since I did the ab-ripper a few days back.In the legs and back video you have to do wall squats and I would hit my implant in just the right spot every time and it would hurt and I would have to re adjust. I decided that it was not worth hurting it without my mat so I am waiting to receive that next week before I do the ab-ripper again.

I should have it by the middle of the week.

Does this mean I won’t see results?  Heck no, it was 64 minutes of pure “X” training and I can still feel it so I am so not worried!

I could literally feel the heat in my legs BURN through half of the work out or better. It was insane but I really did have fun doing it. I liked this better than the Yoga for sure and I feel like I got an awesome work out.

I do have to say that this work out makes me smell funky again! PU I do stink so you know I worked hard.

Tomorrow is Kenpo! I have no idea what that is but will find out tomorrow. Then Sunday is rest or stretch and measurements and picture day!

I KNOW this is working! I feel great and have a ton of energy. It has only been a few days and I can already feel an energy difference…AND….I have noticed that I am craving healthier food too when I am hungry. This is definitely a win, win situation!

Almost forgot my goal, but practice makes perfect.

Wow, I had one trying day a couple days ago; let me share it with you.

The morning started out with my son deciding he was not going to sleep past 6:30am. Mind you I had only had a few hours of sleep because my daughter was up crying at 3am because she had to go to the bathroom. She used to get up with no problem and go back to bed but she decided to cry and wake me up and then cry for 20 minutes after she went to the bathroom. It then took me another 30 minutes to fall back asleep and then I was up at 6:30am with a cranky, crying son. He did not go back to sleep that morning.

About 3 hours later he decided that he was going to move Mommy’s jewelry box away from the wall. I keep it face backwards so the drawers are against the wall so he cannot open it and take everything out. It took about 3 seconds for him to push it around and as I turned to see what he was doing, and tried to get over to him fast enough I watched it fall over onto the floor face down. I just could not get there fast enough to stop it and it seemed to be happening in slow motion. Here is the jewelry box now.

See…this is the only new piece of furniture I own, short of our bed, so this was a hard one for me to stomach. I was so upset I yelled, very loudly, and then cried for a few minutes afterwards. I think I scared my son more the falling jewelry box did and then I think I was more crying because I yelled at him, not over the stupid jewelry box.

I collected myself and we rushed out the door as we had been in an ice storm for 3 days and I had time sensitive material that HAD to get in the mail. I could not just plop a stamp on it and send it from home as it was a larger than normal envelope and I had no idea what to put on it.

My care had not been driven in 3 days due to the ice storm and after letting it heat up for 60 minutes and still having to hack ice off of it after that 60 minutes, we all got into the car. I had salted the driveway about 4 times during the storm but it did not help.

I attempted to pull out of my driveway, I say attempt because I slid and came within a 1/2 inch of hitting my car on the fire hydrant that is so smartly place on the corner of the driveway.

Our driveway is shorter on the road and opens up in front of the fire hydrant. It is really stupid. I park on the right hand side but the ice was not caring which side I was parking on it wanted to steer me to the left. But…I missed it, by 1/2 inch, but it was a miss.

I then made it to the post office and had to very tired hungry kids. I thought “we will just go in real quick and get something to eat after.” WRONG! I waited in line 35 minutes. Kids were crying and running around. I had my 1 year old in a stroller and he screamed while my 4 1/2 year old ran everywhere. There was one postal worker and the line went to the front door. I thought about getting out of line once or twice but would have just had to come back and at that point there were 6 people behind me.

We finally got out of there, got something to eat and went home.

I sat on the sofa after my morning and afternoon and just thought to myself “why am I getting so upset?” “I did not hit the car, we made it safe and a jewelry box is material.” It was at that point I got up and gave both my kids the biggest hug and kisses, turned the TV off and turned the radio on. We dance, laughed and had a great time for the rest of the afternoon.

Things happen and we cannot control everything but we CAN control how we handle things! Before my journey I was not aware of this and I would have let all these things ruin my whole day. I know I am on the right track because I only let it ruin half my day and half is better than ALL!

Have a good week!

Ice Storms are Nasty!

I have only live in the Midwest since 2001 and this is the first year I have EVER seen an ice storm like this bad. I know that others around here have seen worse, but since I have been here, this is the worst i have seen it.
Last week we had a 3 day ice storm. I lived out west my whole life until 2001 and it is dry, we do not get ice storms.
Checkout these pictures I took on day one, they are crazy!
The garbage can was frozen solid, I could not open it for anything. My garbage stayed right where you see it for 3 days! I had to hold onto the car for dear life as I walked the gabage out. I could not step without slipping all over the place!
I pulled out of my driveway 2 days later and just slid right down into the street. I had no control at all.  See the fire hydrant and the awesome place it is at?: Ya, I missed it by less then a 1/2 inch on the drivers side of my car. It least I missed it!

People ask me all the time if the winters are so much worse out west since they here about the massive amounts of snow we can get (I lived in Utah and southern Alberta Canada). You know, to be honest I think they are worse here. This is my opinion anyway. I would so much rather deal with a foot of snow then a few inches of snow with an inch of ice added underneath it. I used to think it was no big deal to drive in the winter out west, but out here, the ice is unbearable. Give me snow over ice any day! Besides I do dislike the humidity big time. I do like living here I just don’t like the humidity.  I guess I better retire somewhere else eh?

I hope you are all staying safe and warm! Thanks goodness I have an awesome husband who works hard so we can have a warm house to look out onto the fiercly cold winter!

P90X Day 4 Yoga X and OMG!

These posts are being written on the actual day I am working out but may not be posted until a day or two after due to timing and other postings.Yoga is very hard for me right now and I struggled BIG time on this. I wanted to quit so bad so many times and I have to admit that I did about 2/3rds of the way through. This is a 90 minute work out, it is insane.I have been a dancer and used to be able to do Yoga like there was no tomorrow, 90 minutes was not a big deal. Well….I have not dance in years and yoga is hard now and it hurts. For those that think it sounds/looks easy, try it and you will change.

Even though I only did about 2/3rd’s I did do an hour and i still felt good.  Is till hurt…it’s all good. I know that the more I am keeping up with this program that by the end the yoga won;t be so hateful to me.

Here are a few pics of my attempt to stretch and a video of a small move. I will take videos again later to show my progress as I KNOW there will be a ton of progress!

Now don’t get too big of a laugh but here is the video!

Back in my dancing days I would have never thought I would see myself this out of shape and it is hard to even picture myself here now. It is a lot to take in but at least I won’t have to take it in much longer!
If you haven’t read my story then check out my Who’s Tawna tab on the right hand sidebar and read how I got here in the first place. A place I NEVER want to come back to again and WON’T
