The Best Bun Maker Tool, EVER!

I have danced for years and now my daughter dances. The dress code at her dance school is a leotard tights, and hair in a bun. Even though I have danced for pretty much ever, I have found myself to be bun illiterate.

My daughter’s hair is exactly like mine was…thick and long. It is so heavy to put up that most options and up dos I have tried myself have failed miserably. I have found a great product, through many trial and errors so I thought I would share.

Found this maker option on eBay and amazon and bought a couple. Not sure who get’s this to work but it is a big fail for me. The hair does not hold tight enough for me to get my daughter’s hair in a nice bun. Ends of hair fall out and it clips so loosely after about 3 minutes her entire bun is destroyed. Waste of money in my opinion.

This one was the next attempt. I liked the foam idea and that the slit seemed to be smaller then my first product so I ordered both sizes I could find.  Another fail for me. The structure again does not hold my daughter’s hair tight enough. I like the soft foam but it fails big time in a tight hold for heavy thick hair. It held the ends better then the first product but when I rolled it, the ends would not go tight no matter how many times I tried to do them different. Her bun eventually fell so low that it pulled her hair and she complained it hurt. I was getting frustrated.

The third product I bought, and the only successful one I have found is the hairagami bun maker. This works like those old slap bracelets. You put the hair between the 2 sides and pull and roll and slap it into a circle. LOVE IT! The pic of my daughter above is with this hairagami bun maker. She jumps and turns, and wears it all day before dance and it stays. I do have to say that it works 50% better if you do it with wet hair. Dry hair works but does not quite give it the tight hold I want for her thick hair. Thinner hair would probably stay in better dry.

Now, I originally bought these in blond. Now I am not able to find them in blond but rather black only. It is not a big deal as you do not see the color but in my daughter’s hair was thinner you might see the black. So here is my attempt for hairagami to bring the blond back.

I know there are those people that have great success with bobby pins and rolling their own buns but I am not one of those. I need help. The hairagami bun maker has been the best for me…LOVE IT!

Does anyone else have any other bun suggestions? I would love to hear them as these hairagami products are getting harder to find. I can only find them on line and I have to watch for them.

Wonder why Hairagami is not selling the blond anymore, frustrating because I know a big part of our dance studio uses and wants them. They are seriously the best ever and I have been doing buns for YEARS!
