I have been pretty successful not eating the complex carbohydrates (CHO) at night and now I am making one more change.
I am not making dinner my largest meal anymore, I think this can be a weight gainer as well, even without the complex CHO. I am going to eat my largest meal at lunch and then have a small dinner minus the complex CHO. Today I make myself a small steak and half a potato that I am making y husband for dinner. I will have that for him and add some fresh vegetables and I will eat the vegetables tonight along with some fruit for dinner. If I find that after a few days I am starving then maybe I will split up the meat into two portions and eat half for dinner and half fro lunch. This will give me even more time to burn off more calories at night.
UPDATE:
I did have to split up the meat for dinner. I found myself starving at bedtime and it was so bad I could not sleep for a few nights. When I added a little more protein to my dinner the hunger was not so bad it kept me awake!
I appreciate your decision.
For the last couple of years I have been having really bad joint pain and no one understood why. I went to a rheumatologist and he could not explain the reason either. I searched over the Internet about this and finally found out that it was the complex carbohydrates I used to eat late at night (after 8 pm or so).
I am happy to find out why! I am avoiding them too.
