Why do we think kids need so many toys? I am DONE!

I hope you will share!

When I was young we had a handful of toys and we were fine with that. It seems now that kids, mine included, have more toys then I did my entire childhood. This is what I walk downstairs too daily, it’s the play room.

I am so done with this play room. The kids do not even know what they have in this playroom anymore and you can see that as it is jsut one big cluttered mess! So this is what I did.

Go to page 2, at the bottom of the post, to read the rest

I got 2 large black garbage bags and I went to town on the room and i threw stuff away and I mean THREW away! Here is what it looked like when I was done.

I put nothing away, I threw away and look how much more room there is. The funny thing is that the kids won’t even know. They will just think I cleaned it.

Of course I waited til they went to bed as if I would have done this when they are awake they would have cried over everything. I just decided that the fight was not worth it and did it when they fell asleep.

Another nice perk is that the garbage day is tomorrow so I can get these toys out of here quick.

Here is what I am putting in the garbage NOW so the kids have no chance of seeing it!

Goodbye toys!!!!

Hope everyone is happy and toy free day!!

  • I need to go through my son's toys and get rid of/donate a lot of them too! Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Hello! It is really very tiring to clean up and tidy up toys. I would like to share what I did to my kid's toys. I bought big stackable plastic bins. First, i sort out the toys then put it accordingly in the bins. Their old toys (put it also in big trash bags) were destined to be given away to toy charity this coming Dec. :)

  • lol, I feel your pain and as a mother of 3 understand and agree. Heres what I find works best for us.... bag the toys and hide them, wait a few months and bag some more, take out the first set and give them back while hiding the 2nd set. Toy rotation, its like Christmas... well almost, but buys some free time for me while they revisit their long lost toys =^)

    • Melissa: I have tried that in the past and it is a great idea, but I tend to forget about the toys!:)

  • LOL..... Boy!! if they find out, you are going to be on their list. I think when kids have less, they have to dream up things to do to keep them busy.

    Good Job Tawna!!
