WTFriday…PU again!

I hope you will share!

So last week I wrote about the smoky guy at the gym. You can view that here if you want. It has been a WTFriday month at the gym. I had another smelly experience last Saturday at the gym.

It’s taken me a while to get the hubs interested in going to the gym with me and Saturday I actually go him up to go with me…yay!

We decided to do the elliptical and we got on two that were side-by-side. About halfway through our workout an older man got on the elliptical next to my hubs. It was fine until my hubs looked at me with this OMG look on his face. Then about a minute later I smelled it…BO and nasty BO. Holy cow, this guy smelled bad AND was sweating next to us.

It was not just a normal sweat smell but rather a…no shower or clean clothes at all, all week kind of smell.

OK so I get it…who wants to shower before the gym? Not me. But you can wear clean workout clothes and have it least showered in the past couple day before coming to the gym! In fact the gym has showers!!!

WTFriday…second week of gym odor…nasty!

Remember I would love your WTFriday moments to share!

  • i wrote a comment, but it didn't post and didn't tell me it was pending either. hope it went through...

  • Sounds like a good stuffy nose is a requirement at that gym. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com

  • I work on the 28th floor of a high rise office building. Naturally, people aren't allowed to smoke inside and there is only one area a few feet outside of one side entrance where smoking is permitted. For some reason, people seem to always go out there and come back inside in groups, so I frequently get trapped in an elevator (for what feels like a very long ride up) with two or more people reeking of smoke. I feel like I've been smoking by the time I get to my floor, which is pretty frustrating. I don't have a problem with people smoking per se, but I don't want to be subjected to the concentrated smell when I personally choose not to smoke. Sadly, i also pretty frequently get trapped with someone wearing WAY too much perfume or cologne. Which is ALMOST as bad as the smokers.

  • I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and say that maybe he did shower, but just sweats really bad....some people have the unfortunate problem of having a terrible odor as soon as a they start to sweat...maybe he was already working out for a while, and his clothes and body were stinky because of that...I mean, if he's at the gym, he most likely is concerned with taking care of himself, so maybe he just can't help the way he smells while he's working out? I tend to sweat more than most women, and it's very uncomfortable for me...and sometimes I think people look at me like it's MY fault...

    • You are absolutely right. I know that I can smell myself when I start to stink and it bugs me so much I HAVE to shower...even if I took one already that day. Maybe they are just immune to their smell by the time they get that bad. Who knows...lol

  • I guess I've been fortunate to not smell someone while working out, but I do have a WTF moment: people who sit on equipment and talk on the cell phone. I should say this has been my husband's gripe. He would wait and wait and wait for a woman to get off a weight bench so he could use it. He would rotate around to other weight machines while he was waiting. Most of the time he wouldn't get that particular machine. People can be so rude! I think cell phones need to be turned off inside the gym. If there's an emergency, I can understand using it, but not to talk to your girlfriend about your weekend plans at the clubs.

    • AMEN!!! I so agree with you. Not only it is rude to tie up the machine but when someone is at the gym or store and they talk so LOUD on their phone...that's annoying! I don't care what their conversation is and they seem to want to let the whole world hear it. Or when someone goes through a checkout and won't get off their phone...ugh!!! Do you mind if I use your comment in my next WTFriday?
      Thanks for sharing!

  • Hello,
I left a comment on this post last week, defending people who can't necessarily control how they smell when they sweat or work out. I really hope I didn't offend you by not totally agreeing with you, because I don't see my comment on here. I apologize if it was offensive in any way... I was just trying to be honest, which I thought was the right thing to do. Also, it was for an entry into the Totally Awesome Christmas Giveaway, so I hope, by you not posting my comment, it doesn't disqualify me for claiming the entry. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

  • I don't belong to a gym but I have been in line in a store and try not to hurt someones feelings by covering my nose. Here some of the farmers go into the grocery stores in their work clothes that stink of a full day of work and animal poop, I will never get used to it.
