Positive thinking is being tested today

I just posted in my other blog my car problems http://btrbb.blogspot.com

Short version; got ready, kids in the car, car won’t start. Trying real hard to not be overly frustrated about it and bring in negative energy. It is going to be something easy right? Trying, trying, trying…. And will let you know what happens.

Reward may be postponed

Well if you read my earlier post you will know that my daughter earned a movie for sleeping in her own bed for 7 entire nights. That movie starts in 30 minutes and since I am posting a blog you will know that is not going to happen.

Got both kids ready, got in the car, and bam…car won’t start! Don’t know why but there is no power and it is a new battery and alternator within the last year.

It is hard to explain to 4 year old car problems. I feel bad because she is really disappointed and I am trying not to get over frustrated.

Hopefully it is an easy fix; like we left the lights on and killed the battery and it just need to be charged. We will try for a 2pm show I guess

Are we really "Old Moms?"

Why do we have to be labeled with the world “old” just because we are not in our 20’s or early 30’s having kids? I have respect for every mother, younger or older, but get rid of the word “old!”

I was 38 when my last child was born. I am really an old Mom? I don’t think so, how about “wise” Mom?

What would you rather be called my fellow new Mom’s in your late 30’s plus?

Adding weights to my moving work-out

I decided to add some ankle weights while running the stairs while unpacking boxes. I am on the basement now so I am hiking these stairs every few minutes. Already starting to feel the burn, but it is a good burn.

I am also starting to get over my initial soreness I was experiencing earlier this week. I am exhausted at night but actually starting to feel good!

I have added a link to the leg weights I use.  I lvoe these because on days I am a bit more sore or tired I can take 1 pound out at a time.  I have had them for years and they are still in great shape!

My plan to stop my 4 year old from sleeping with us

If you have read my blog in the past you will know that I got my daughter to stop sucking her thumb in about 8 days. If you want to read about it go back to my posts the week of Feb 7-Feb 14 2010.

I am using the same strategy to get my daughter out of our bed. It is driving us crazy and we can’t sleep with her in our bed, she is just getting to big and too squirmy.

The thumb sucking chain I made is totally working for this sleeping issue, thanks goodness. I am attaching a picture of the chain.

The rules are that she has to sleep in her bed the entire night and if she does then she is allowed to tear of one link when she gets up in the morning. If she comes in our room crying and I take her back to bed and she stays in bed then we count that as success.

I put up a 7 link chain and told her that on the seventh day we will take her to see Toy Story 3 in the movie theater. No little brother and she gets dinner before and popcorn in the movie.

Has it worked? Let’s just say that I started this 4 days ago and there are 4 links of the chain. Seriously, I am not making this up. She has only come in our room on 2 nights crying as well and has gone back to bed easily each time.

I wonder how many different ways I can use this chain in her life? I am definitely going to utilize it with my son in the future too.

Starting to feel sore!

So this up and down stair, bending over unpacking boxes, and late nights trying to get things organized is starting to make me sore.

My friend Janet told me that I looked like I had lost more weight today, which made me feel good, but my body is so sore I don’t feel well.

I am pretty sure I run up and down these stairs at least 25 times a day. I am looking forward to taking some measurements after I am totally unpacked and settled as I know I am burning some fierce calories.

The laundry chute rocks!

I don’t know how many of you remember the good old laundry chute but we have one in our new rental house and my daughter thinks it is the coolest things ever.

She is so funny. Every time I have something to throw down the chute she runs down in the basement so she can watch it fall. Everyone that has come over to see the place has had the laundry chute tour.

I do love it myself as well. I love throwing the laundry all in one central location and this is definitely helping with clothes not being left on the room floor.

I forgot how much I love laundry chutes and it is quite fun to see my four year old so entertained. Will definitely add one in my future house we will build in hopefully 4 years

Getting the hang of this positive thinking.

I am a stressor this I am fully aware of, hence my secret experiment. I usually have to have everything go my way and on schedule or I get really ticked off.

We have been moving and unpacking for weeks and usually I would kill myself and stress myself out to get everything organized, NOW! I would sit and think of all the negative “I have to do all this, etc.?” I am not doing this during this move at all.

I have been taking it at a normal speed and am letting things go as the universe sees fit. Seriously, this is a huge thing for me and it is working so far. In fact, my very patient husband was the one 2 days ago having a breakdown about the stress. He did do a heck of a lot more then me, but the mess of the house was getting to him and not me and that is so polar opposite of the norm.

I have to say that it is nice to not be a stress case about everything. The house is coming along and I do some every day. It will get there!

Corn plant from popcorn, so cool!

While in Utah at my Mom’s I notices some awesome corn plants in her garden. I asked her why she only had planted a few corn plants and nothing else in her garden and she said “I didn’t.”

One day she threw some old popcorn kernels out in the garden to get rid of them and a few weeks later she had plants! I have attached a picture.

The garden is sparse because I weeded it for her but left the corn plants, the rest of the garden was total weeds.

Can’t wait to see the corn come on it I just think this is so cool, un-planned corn growing in the garden, yum!

I have been so hungry

Since we have been ding nothing but burning calories while unpacking, I have been starving! Running up and down the stairs every 20 minutes or so and being on my feet all day are making me hungry.

I typically do not like pasta at all but actually craved for the first time in a lot of years yesterday. I could not find a big pan to cook it in and it took me about an hour to make enough for our little family of 4 in my small little pan I had.

I am actually getting back some of my energy that I had before my trip. I am pretty sure that because I am moving my body more again that it is waking up from being so lazy for the last 6 weeks. I may hurt but it also feels good!

Should be done unpacking and organizing in about a week!
