Carbohydrate plan…

I am going to try something different with my carbohydrate (CHO) eating. There are so many diets out there that tell you to take the CHO’s away totally and then bring them back in slowly to your diet. I don’t like this and I will tell you why. Anytime you starve yourself of any nutrient it makes the body not want to metabolize properly. The body will crave these CHO’s and thus it will have to turn to other sources for its energy. This can help you lose weight but can really screw up your metabolism.

The other problem is that your body will start to gain weight faster after you start the CHO’s again, thus can equal an even bigger weight gain then before. The idea is NOT to take the CHO’s out totally and bring them back in slowly, it is better to take them down slowly so you do not deprive your body of its nutrients. Simple CHO’s are fine they burn off very quickly and this is your fruits and vegetables. You need not take these away. It is the complex CHO’s that are the weight gainers but you DO NEED them in order to be healthy. Throw all the white refined CHO’s out the window and go to whole gain instead. They are more easily burned and so much better for you.

This is my plan:

Eat my complex CHO’s in the morning and early afternoon and NO complex CHO;s at dinner or before bed. I am NOT going to take away my simple CHO’s (fruits and vegetables at night). This way I will have about half a day to get my complex CHO metabolism going and this should help me lose more weight a little quicker. If this plan works I will make this a permanent change in my diet. Now let’s see what happens.

This sounds like a workable, doable plan of action. I'm with you, your body needs complex carbs and the earlier in the day the better. This gives you the energy to jump start your day while giving your body time to burn those calories.

I found eating a high protein breakfast is an excellent way to fuel my body for the day and it keeps me fueled for many hours. In fact, sometimes I forget that I need to eat when the lunch hour rolls around. Amazing, huh?

    Good luck to ya!
